Mill Volume & Charge Calculator

Advanced mill volume and charge analysis with frustum integration for multi-section mills. Calculate charge volume, mass balance, exposed lifters, and residence time.

  1. Define your mill geometry — enter section lengths and diameters on the left. Section 3 is the main cylinder; other sections define conical transitions (feed/discharge cones, trunnions).
  2. Set the load level— adjust the "Load Level from Axis" slider in Mill Parameters below. Negative values (typical) mean the charge surface is below the mill centreline.
  3. Review results — charge volume, percentage fill, and mass breakdown update live as you move any slider. The cross-section and side-view diagrams animate the charge fill in real time.
  4. Adjust slurry properties — set % Solids, Ore SG, and Liquid SG to compute bulk slurry density and mass components. Set Throughput to calculate residence time.
